Follow-Up Ministry Letter
The sport of Amateur Boxing is something that we are teaching our youth. They are taught from the very basic skills such as their boxing stance as well as the most advanced punch combinations and body movements. The most important of all skills is something very simple that most coaches forget to remind their students of, and that is their Visual Technique. In their training, we remind them that they have an opponent in front of them at all times and they must not lose visual focus. We teach them and make them aware of the dangers of losing site of their opponent. Not being able to see where the punches are coming from, we show them how to defend against their opponent such as blocking punches as well as using their head and body movements to slip away avoiding contact. We also build up their strength by having them do basic and advanced exercises like rope-jumping, push-ups, sit-ups, running, and jumping-jacks just to name a few. Some weightlifting exercises are implemented for those that are of age. Just like any other sport, we build them up so that they can endure. Endure what? … This is something that some of you may ask. We here at Cornerstone Boxing make GOD’S priority our priority and that is to first open up in prayer before we do any kind of training. We build them up in the word of our LORD JESUS CHRIST by sitting down with them and having bible studies. We teach and explain the word and how it applies to our lives. Also, we explain how they may be able to use the word to defend themselves against the wiles’ of the enemy. Therefore, we encourage the youth to read their bibles, pray and ask GOD for strength so that they too may endure. We as a Ministry understand that the boxing appeals to a lot of the youth so we will train them to be the best amateur boxers. First, our LOVE falls on teaching them about CHRIST OUR LORD. Also, teaching them the salvation made available to all through HIS death and resurrection. “For GOD so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For GOD did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17) Therefore, our focus is to make the youth through GOD’s Love and Grace the Best Discipl
es in CHRIST.
